Do you ever find yourself struggling to finish something that you continuously put off and try to avoid? It could be anything in your life – finishing that home improvement project, writing that term paper, or even going to the dentist are perfect examples. The reasons for avoiding such things could be do to lack of motivation, fear of the unknown, or possibly being so disorganized that you lose track of what you were suppose to do.
I have been known to avoid certain things in my life only to find myself in worse shape later down the road. Continuously putting off important projects or tasks makes it more difficult when you have no choice and are forced to finish it. At that point it becomes an even bigger struggle to get things done.
As a blogger and online content writer, I find myself avoiding one particular kind of post on a consistent basis. That type of post is when I am forced or required to write about myself. This would be the About page on a blog (the PFI About page needs some major help) or the Bio page on a social networking site like Twitter. I actually avoided using Twitter for a while because I couldn’t decide what to include on my bio page!
While I enjoy writing about personal finance, passive income, and several other topics – the posts that I struggle with the most are centered around me! I think this comes back to the person I am – not wanting to be the center of attention or in the spotlight. While I am the expert source on my life and have a wealth of information, I struggle writing it out.
I am at the point right now where I am forced to finish this task I have been avoiding. Because of my avoidance in writing a quality Bio or About page, I believe I have missed out on potential customers and readers. In recent days, I have been asked by several readers about my “About” page on PFI or how to contact me. As a result I am now forced to confront this task and finish it once and for all!
What types of things do you avoid in life? Do you struggle writing a particular kind of post or content on your blog or website?

I have those moments too – I just put things off way, way too long. And you are right, they typically come back and kick me in the tush later. None of mine are related to writing, which is something I absolutely love. They usually involve dirty, messy house projects – as in jobs where I know I am going to get filthy and/or deal with nasty stuff. Using a snake to clean out the shower drain, for example.

I struggled with my About page, too. I didn’t want to sound too corny or too snarky, so I wound up with a pretty generic-sounding page. I’ll probably change it a little, but it is something that I avoid.

Brother, I hear ya! It is actually very hard for me to just sit down and write at all. I do love to blog, but I’m not a gifted writer, so it is work from that standpoint.

I think I have the same thing when it comes to writing about myself! While my blog is centred around me and my journey, it isn’t very personal. I found it hard to write the About Me page. I guess it’s good in many ways
