in PFI Updates

I will begin writing an update post once a week for things that are new to Passive Family Income (PFI) – including changes to the site, carnivals, interesting links, etc. These posts will also include brief updates to past posts when appropriate (i.e. Prosper loan status). Today is the inaugural PFI Weekly Update post! I haven’t decided which day I will post these articles (probably Tuesday’s – I know today is Wednesday), but will work to find the best schedule to provide these updates. So ….. here we go!

Changes to the Site – Creating an Identity
I have been in the process of making some enhancements (at least I think they are) to the site in the past few days. I had gotten a little frustrated over the last couple of weeks about some of the functionality of the theme I chose for this blog. It wasn’t that things were broken or didn’t work, it was just because of how magazine styled themes are developed. Then I was emailing with my friend Ralph at Enginero.com about changing my theme away from the magazine style I chose and he commented that he actually liked my theme. Then I started to remember what attracted me to the theme in the first place. Anyways – I have decided to keep the theme and begin to tweak it to my liking!

I had been in search for a logo, favicon, and gravatar for weeks for the site.PFI Logo Unfortunately, I don’t have any useful software that could help me create a nice looking logo. I had experimented with some of the free online generators and just couldn’t come up with anything I liked. Then I came across the Blog Logos site and found what I was looking for! Pete from Blog Logos took my requests and specifications for what I was looking for in a logo and created an identity for me that I love! In addition to the new PFI Logo, I had Pete create me a favicon and gravatar Favicon to use on the site that fit the theme of the logo. I must say that I was very impressed with his work and would recommend this service to anyone. I came away with a nice looking logo, favicon, and gravatar at a very low cost. More importantly, I now have an identity that I was in search of. Thanks Pete!

Carnivals
I have participated in the following carnivals over the past 2 weeks -

June 16, 2008 – My post – Tracking the status of my Prosper loan – June (2008) Part 1 was included in the Carnival of Personal Finance #157: Third Anniversary Edition – hosted by Consumerism Commentary.

June 9, 2008 – My post – Tracking a bad Prosper loan was included in the Carnival of Personal Finance #156: Songs of Summer – hosted by Prime Time Money.

I would like to thank both of the hosts for these two carnivals and look forward to submitting more articles in the future to the Carnival of Personal Finance.

That’s all the updates I have for today!

The logo is looking great! I have worked with a ton of web designers and graphic artists in my many years as a developer and I can say that the one thing that always impresses me and how they make logos look so clean, simple, and professional.

Specifically, I like that he was able to use two clean gradients. Great look and great work!
