Welcome to PFI and the weekly updates – The Hosting Edition. Today’s weekly updates post takes a bit of a turn and focuses on hosting your blog. If you run a self-hosted blog, then you probably already know the importance of having a good provider. While some web hosting companies offer incredibly low rates, choosing a provider simply by cost may not always be the best option.
Just last week I noticed that one of my niche sites had a second domain name pointing to my IP address. I immediately flipped out and began an investigative search to find out who was trying to rip me off! I also sent an email to my hosting provider pair Networks expressing my concern.
Within a few hours of my email that was sent, the hosting company notified me that it was a mistake on their part and they were taking care of the issue. Apparently the other domain had been cancelled and somehow was pointed to my IP address. While I was upset at first, I realized there had been no harm done and was extremely happy with the customer service and support offered by pair Networks.
If you are in the market for a hosting provider, I would recommend using pair Networks. While I don’t promote too many products on PFI – this is one product I have no problem recommending. Another great thing I like about them is that they are an earth friendly company.
Personal Finance Blog of the Week
As part of my effort to meet my personal finance goals for 2009, I plan to visit other personal finance blogs and help promote the good ones anyway I can. Each week I will write a short review of a site that I believe is worthwhile checking out.
- The Corporate Barbarian – The Corporate Barbarian is a blog that is rich in career, life, and money advice – just as it describes itself. While most personal finance sites focus on getting out of the corporate world or becoming your own boss – The Corporate Barbarian talks about corporate culture and the workplace. I appreciate the uniqueness of this site and is one of my daily reads. I especially like the tips given about Excel and Email where I have picked up some very useful information. Take a few minutes out of your day and go visit – The Corporate Barbarian.

Articles I liked
Here are a couple articles I enjoyed over the past week. Please check them out and enjoy.
1 – Web Career Girl talks about why you shouldn’t punish yourself for not doing enough when you are your own boss. I can completely relate as I often do this when working on building my passive income streams.
2 – Fire Finance gives us 7 energy savings tips for this summer.
3 – Fix My Personal Finance offers some tips for showing your house. This is something very useful for those trying to sell their home in this poor housing market.
