Welcome to PFI and the weekly updates – The Affiliate Marketing and Niche Blogging Edition. I have mentioned it before on PFI, but I am busy working on a niche blog geared towards earning passive income. This is one new income stream that I plan to add to my passive income arsenal for the current year. Over the past several weeks I have been focusing a lot of my effort on creating this niche blog, which has taken up a lot of time. I can tell you that this is not a get rich quick scheme – as I had known before I started. I have spent a ton of time on keyword research as well as learning about getting back links to your site and other niche blogging topics. While I have spent a lot of time and effort upfront, the potential rewards of generating substantial passive income from this site are too good to pass up!

I decided to dedicate this weeks updates post to creating passive income through affiliate marketing and niche blogging to share some of the very useful resources I have come across. Just last week I purchased the One Week Marketing eBook from PotPieGirl. I often prefer to learn things the frugal way and not spend money on products that others may have posted for free. However, there are times for exceptions and this is one of them – purchasing an eBook on eHow was the other. One Week Marketing has completely changed the way I am approaching the world of affiliate marketing and niche blogging. It has helped me to correct one of my biggest issues – staying focused! I know that I am not the only one out there who has problems staying focused on tasks. I have so many ideas floating around in my head and I want to jump from one thing to the next without getting any real work done. PotPieGirl has given me a new mindset on how to stay focused with her eBook!

Personal Finance Blog of the Week
As part of my effort to meet my personal finance goals for 2009, I plan to visit other personal finance blogs and help promote the good ones anyway I can. Each week I will write a short review of a site that I believe is worthwhile checking out.

  • Writing for Your Wealth – The next stop on my personal finance blog tour is at a site specializing in making money from writing. Writing for Your Wealth offers a ton of useful information on affiliate marketing, empire building, as well as Google AdSense. I have found this site to be an excellent resource in helping me start my niche blog over the past several weeks. When you visit, be sure to check out the 8-part series on building passive income with article sites series. These 8 articles provided me with the foundation to start my article marketing site and gave me lots of inspiration. If you have not checked out this site, please take the time to go over to this site and say hello to Lindsay!

Carnivals
I participated in the following carnival over the past week. Please check out some of the great reads from this carnival!

Articles I liked
This week I will provide a list of excellent FREE resources that I have come across recently that have helped me a lot in my empire building campaign!

1 – Olivier Roland wrote a guest post on Writing for Your Wealth about how to create an article site using Wordpress. If you follow the 8-part series on Writing for Your Wealth I mentioned earlier – this is a great follow up article that brings in some of the technical details of creating an article site.

2 – This post from Pat at Smart Passive Income is about using Mind Maps to generate ideas and brainstorm. Whether you are writing an eBook or creating a niche blog, this is an excellent resource to start using.

3 – Remember that One Week Marketing eBook I purchased? Well the author – PotPieGirl has several other free resources that can be referenced. One of my favorite resources is a niche site about creating a Niche Site.

4Collin Lahay has a site dedicated to creating dofollow links to your site.

5 – Maria at Residual Income Web Blog offers tips on one of the biggest parts of making money with a website – writing content.

6 – Here is the 1st part of the building passive income series offered by Lindsay at Writing for Your Wealth to get you started!

As I mentioned previously, affiliate marketing and niche blogging take a lot of upfront effort and time. The same can be said about writing an eBook. Since I am starting to focus on all of these avenues for passive income creation, I will be scaling back some of my posts on PFI. I typically post 5 to 6 articles per week here, including the weekly updates post. I will be cutting back to 3 weekly posts plus the PFI updates post to free up some extra time!

Have an wonderful week!

1 Do You Dave Ramsey? March 24, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Thanks for the information. I’ll be checking out many of the links you provided here.

I’m sure you have a process for identifying and assessing the PF blogs you select each week, but it there’s a gap in your schedule I’d appreciate your review and candor concerning my site. I’d appreciate an outside eye telling me what I’m doing right or wrong.

Thanks again for the knowledge and consideration.
