Welcome to PFI and the weekly updates – Make Money Online Edition. I spent a lot of time over the past week reading up on affiliate marketing and how fellow bloggers are making money online using this tool. I found that there are a lot of very successful bloggers and writers who are capitalizing on affiliate marketing. Whether it be utilizing affiliate links on a blog or putting an affiliate link on an eHow post, there are many possibilities. I have started adding some affiliate links to my eHow posts as well as articles on PFI and will continue to follow the work being done by others. Do you participate in affiliate marketing?
There are several other ways that I have been able to make money online including things like AdSense, paid posts, peer to peer lending, trading options, etc. I consider anything that I do online in this category including stocks and dividends. I hope to one day form a company around these various ventures in an effort to create multiple passive income streams and work towards my goal of financial freedom.
Personal Finance Blog of the Week
As part of my effort to meet my personal finance goals for 2009, I plan to visit other personal finance blogs and help promote the good ones anyway I can. Each week I will write a short review of a site that I believe is worthwhile checking out.
- Chasing the Bull – I have been following this site for several months now and it is part of my Blogroll. Dusty, who writes for this blog, is a dedicated eHow writer and is working towards making passive income. I can relate to a lot of the work and effort Dusty is putting into creating new passive income streams every day. Go over and check the site out if you get the chance!
Carnivals
January 14, 2009 – I participated in the Money Hacks Carnival #47 hosted by Money Beagle. My post – Popular movie rentals – Alternative Options was included as an editor’s pick in this weekly carnival! Thanks so much to Money Beagle for the recognition.
Articles I liked this week
Sticking with the theme, I am listing my favorite articles posted on the topic Make Money Online. Here are some of my favorites -
1 – Pat from The Smart Passive Income Blog tells us how to start a company in 30 minutes or less. He just formed his own LLC around his online money making ventures.
2 – Frugal Dad started a new site called Side Hustle Blogging as a niche site to provide help on blogging. I can’t wait to pick up tips from this site to help me with my passive income goals.
3 – TAM from The Almost Millionaire discusses Clickbank as an affiliate marketing provider.
4 – Experimental Blogging asks how others grow their passive streams of income?
5 – My Work at Home Mom Blog breaks down several revenue sharing sites. This is a really nice breakdown from first hand experience.
6 – Fasblog posts the Top 3 ways to make money online.
Have an excellent week!

I use affiliate marketing in my articles, but only where it’s appropriate and only when it’s a company that I would do business with myself. Also, if I could earn a commission from the sale or the reader could get cash-back from shopping through a site like Ebates, I’ll include my link for those that don’t feel like shopping through a cash-back site, but I’ll also list the cash-back sites. That’s appropriate for my site, since I’m trying to help my readers save money.
I also love Chasing the Bull…great site to highlight!

Thanks for the link love! Much appreciated! I’ve gotten several e-mail responses about clickbank. I’ll get them on the site soon and we will digest the info I’m getting.
Best,

@Corrie – I agree with your points. I think there are times when blogs overdue it. It is important to be true to yourself.
@TAM – Not a problem. Glad we came across each others blogs. Good luck with Clickbank.

Thanks for the link! I love these summaries of other articles you find on the web, I think I might do the same thing because I find them to be very helpful. Thanks!
p.s. do you notice the # of subscribers from feedburner going bonkers lately? One day it’s 150, the next it’s 80, then the day after it’s 140. I don’t think 50+ people de-subscribe and then subscribe the next day. Weird…

@Pat – yes, I was freaked out on Monday with my RSS Feed numbers. Last Sunday I saw an all time high of 109 and then it dropped to 48 on Monday. The past two days it has been in the 50s. Not sure what is going on but it looks like other bloggers are seeing the same behavior. It shouldn’t matter but is still one of those little motivators I look forward to.
