photo credit: sgraceWelcome to PFI and the weekly updates – The Coupon Edition. Creating passive income takes a lot of dedication and hard work to become successful at it. There is a lot of time spent on trial and error and reading up on what fellow passive income earners have had success and failure with. One of the easiest ways to increase your passive income foothold is to save more of your regular income and use it to build new passive income streams. One example would be to use some of your savings or part of your paycheck to purchase high yield safe investments including certificates of deposit, government savings bonds, and dividend paying stocks. All of those assets that you purchased will start earning money for you overtime and will begin to add up.
One very important way that my family is able to keep our grocery budget low and save money is by using coupons anytime we can. Whether it be getting free toiletries at CVS and Walgreens or discounted diapers by scouting out the great deals and combining them with coupons – every little bit of savings adds up. All of that savings goes towards our passive income ventures which will ultimately allow us to become financially independent!
Personal Finance Blog of the Week
As part of my effort to meet my personal finance goals for 2009, I plan to visit other personal finance blogs and help promote the good ones anyway I can. Each week I will write a short review of a site that I believe is worthwhile checking out.
- ’Cents’able Momma – As I mentioned earlier, my family uses coupons extensively in an effort to control our spending and save money. The problem that I have with using coupons is the amount of time it takes to sort through them and at the same time trying to match them up with sale items at the grocery store. I have actually been able to cut down the time spent on these tasks, just by following this site. ‘Cents’able Momma is a great site for up to date information on coupons as well as saving money. I truly value this site as a great resource and time saver for my family and wanted to share it with others who are looking for information on saving money! If you have never visited ‘Cents’able Momma and are interested in learning more about using coupons and saving money, I suggest you check out this great site and say hello to Corrie!
Carnivals
I participated in the following carnivals over the past week. Please check out some of the great reads from these carnivals!
- Spring Has Sprung – Carnival of Personal Finance #199 – (Apr. 6, 2009) Managing Your Retirement Savings – hosted by ABCs of Investing.
- The Money Hacks Carnival – April Fool’s Day Edition – (Apr. 1, 2009) Recession in America – Long Distant Families – hosted by Ask Mr. Credit Card.
Articles I liked
Here are a couple of posts about coupons worth checking out (no pun intended).
1 – Dawn from Fighting Foreclosure writes about grocery shopping and where to find coupons.
2 – Money Saving Mom has a great post about shopping at CVS – my favorite store by the way! If you want to know how to save money and even get a lot of free items, you need to read this post!
Have an wonderful week!
