I am proud to announce that this is the first ever installment of reporting my Info Barrel passive income results. I have been reporting similar results on eHow for well over a year now. These types of posts help to inspire me to continue building passive income streams and hopefully they help my readers as well!
During the month of November, I decided it was time to start diversifying my passive income generated from publishing online content. I had been talking about it for a while and finally took the plunge and opened up my Info Barrel account. At first, it took me some time getting use to the different platform compared to eHow. I had gotten so familiar with eHow, that it took a couple days to figure out my way around the Info Barrel tool. I am now settled in and plan to pull up my sleeves and get to work!
Here are my earnings results from my first month of writing for Info Barrel.
November Updates
I spent most of the month of November investigating how to use the Info Barrel platform to begin writing online content. I also wanted to determine if it was a viable tool that could be used to build passive income (which I believe it is). I did manage to write my first 10 articles during the month, which brought in some earnings.
Here is the breakdown of my Info Barrel earnings from November -
- November (2009)
- AdSense Earnings – $3.66
- Chitika Earnings – $.11
- Articles Published – 10
GRAND TOTAL
- Earnings – $3.77
- Articles Published – 10
Are you leaving money sitting on the table with your Info Barrel articles? Make sure you link up your Chitika account to your Info Barrel account for some added earnings!
Final Thoughts
I used the month of November as a trial period to “feel” my way around the Info Barrel platform. While $3.77 in passive income earnings does not seem like a lot, I believe it is a good start. I remember back when I reported my first month of eHow earnings. I published 6 eHow articles that month for a whopping $1.46 in earnings!
I have set a December goal to publish 25 Info Barrel articles to jump start this passive income stream. I plan to take advantage of the several different types of article formats that are allowed to see what works best for me. Starting out, I hope to publish some “review” articles which I believe have a lot of potential. I fully except December to be a great month to establish Info Barrel as a viable passive income source.
Please note that I am still playing around with the format of these Info Barrel results posts. As months go by and I learn more about the Info Barrel platform, I will probably start adding some additional feedback.
How are your Info Barrel earnings coming along? Is there an article format that seems to do better than others as far as earnings? I would love to hear your feedback!

Hey John,
I typically only use the “How-to” and “Blank” article formats on Info Barrel, with an occasional “Review”….
The paradox of sorts behind websites like Info Barrel is that the writers success is directly attributable to the success of the platform, and vice versa….
Many eHow writers do still make a great passive income off of their articles, because eHow has been around longer and has very good ‘authority’ in the search engines….
The difficult thing for emerging websites like Info Barrel is that they need the volume of users and articles in order to establish an authority, however, they need the ‘authority’ in order for search engines to view the articles highly, to direct traffic to writer’s articles, and for the writer’s to ultimately make money….
….and, if writer’s don’t make money, they don’t tend to stay with a platform for very long……even though alot of people make decent money from eHow, I’ve been moreso concerned about the longterm growth, viability, and legitimacy of a company that has engaged in quite a few, quite obvious, shady practices lately…..they may still have a high rank in the search engines, but, very longterm users of their platform are leaving because of their way of handling users….
….also, not everything can be answered with a “How-to” query, which is why I really view their platform as really quite self-limiting, if you think about it…Info Barrel’s multiple article formats, I believe, in the long run, could give it a HUGE advantage over eHow….

….p.s. Still working on the book over here….formatting/editing has been quite a project in and of itself….
….i’m a perfectionist, and don’t want to release it until I KNOW I have the best product possible…

Hi John,
I’ve just started out with Info Barrel myself, only two articles published so far and zero income as yet. The articles do seem to get ranked quickly in Google so hopefully income will start to trickle in soon.
I’ve not added Chitika yet so thanks for the tip.

@Des – I haven’t seen a lot of traffic or income generated so far but still think things will work out. Best of luck to you!

Hey John,
I’ve approved a few of your articles over the last month. I’m glad to see you are stepping it up in December. After a month or two of action you will start to figure out what really works and what doesn’t.
We have a number of users making some great monthly income including a number of my close personal friends. I look forward to seeing you in this group of users!
Also, to help support our community, we should have a forum available in the very new future.
Keep up the great work and you’ll be cracking the $100/month mark in no time.
Thanks
Ryan McKenzie

@Ruth – I am looking forward to seeing how well I can do with Info Barrel this month. Not sure if you saw it, but they have a special contest going on about posting holiday content. Just a little extra motivation!

Thanks for spreading the word about InfoBarrel. I have been reading the forum at eHow and those article sweeps sound horrible. I’ve been thinking about spreading my wings and I think soon I will give Info Barrel a shot as well.

@Moon – Yep, the sweeps were very frustrating. I am still working through things on iB, so hopefully things work out.
