Just over six months ago, I decided to start a new passive income stream by writing articles for eHow. I chose this avenue as a way to write on topics that I wouldn’t generally post on PFI. I also saw the success that several other bloggers were having writing these articles and earning passive income. I started out slow with my writing early on but have really picked it up in the last few months and have seen a huge increase in earnings which is even more motivation for me to write more and more!
For some people, writing an article on eHow could take as little as 5 – 10 minutes to write. I myself could probably rip through 10 – 20 articles per day just by spending 10 minutes or less per article. I am sure that some writers probably follow this pattern to increase the number of articles they have in their eHow article library. I prefer to research out my articles and take the time to check for keyword placement as well as proof reading each and every article. A few months into my eHow experience, I decided to purchase an eBook that was developed by a fellow writer who is making over $1,000 per month from eHow articles! This book has completely changed how I research and write my articles. I now spend between 45 – 60 minutes on an article and it is really paying off. If you are looking for some tips to increase your passive income earnings from eHow – I would highly recommend purchasing How to Earn Passive Income on eHow.com: Maximize Your Online Earnings .

Top 5 Money Earners for February
I thought I would start something new this month and start tracking my top 5 money earning articles since eHow now displays this information. By tracking these articles, I can identify areas and topics that do well. This will allow me to research similar ideas and provide the basis for future posts.
- How to save money using coupons – $4.58
- How to write a Post Interview Thank You Letter – $3.30
- How to Sell Covered Call Options – $3.21
- How to Complete a Job Application and Land an Interview – $2.57
- How to Buy a Call Option for Profit – $2.51
Looking at my list of top 5 money earning articles, I have noticed the following 3 trends -
- Coupons – My top money earner was about coupons which actually surprised me a little. I guess people are looking to cut back and save money because of the economy. I have recently written several other articles around using coupons to see if I can capitalize on this trend.
- Options – Topics around stock options is still working for me. My very first article I wrote on eHow is on my top 5 list along with another article about options. I really like to write about this topic and plan more options articles in the future.
- Jobs – The final 2 articles in the top 5 were around jobs. This did not surprise me at all and is why I focused on writing a block of job searching articles back in January. With unemployment on the rise and people looking for jobs, I think these articles will continue to do well in the future!
Updating Older Articles
I have started some maintenance tasks recently by going back and cleaning up some of my older eHow articles. This includes things like adding photos to my articles if I didn’t in the past as well as including affiliate links to products that relate to the article. Another important cleanup task is to relate some of my newer articles to my older ones. These steps are important to shore up older posts to keep them working for you and your overall portfolio of articles.
eHow Friends
Here are some great How To articles written by a few of my friends on eHow, who are building their passive income streams.
- How to Make Fast Money With Peer To Peer Lending – by chasingthebull
- How to Play Golf And Lose Weight – by Scott E. (aka – The Passive Dad)

I have to get back at this. I have been so, so busy that I haven’t had time to get into this as much as I would like. I appreciate the reminder! Good for you on the money you have been making!

@Dawn – Hopefully I can motivate you to pick back up eHow. I am writing one new article per day now. I can really see the income starting to build, just like other eHow writers have published.

I saw your blog link over at the Passive Dad and thought I’d take a look.
eHow sounds very interesting. Have you used Squidoo? I wonder how the two websites compare.
Great post!

@Happiness – Passive Dad is a great site. It is one of the first pf blogs I ever started following. I have only been writing for eHow but am planning on checking out Squidoo. I plan on using Squidoo to build some links actually to a niche site I am working on.

It’s always interesting (and sometimes surprising) to see what topics end up generating the most money. I dink around on Squidoo from time to time and my top-earning lens is consistently the one on cat litter boxes.

@Lindsay – I will have to go and check out that cat litter article! I can definitely see a pattern on articles that are earning money and others are not. I actually have used some of your tips for keyword research on your site to help me write eHow articles!

Thanks for linking to my eHow article. I just noticed today that you did that. I’ve been neglecting eHow lately but my articles are still getting decent traffic. I think I’m going to go ahead and buy that eHow ebook. I’ll be sure to use your link. Then I’ll have to get busy and start writing some articles.
