Are you looking for that next new business idea that can put you on track towards financial freedom? If you have any entrepreneurial blood in you, then you are probably always on the lookout for that next great business idea. The problem is that these once in a lifetime ideas don’t always jump out at you.
Would you believe that there are potential business ideas all around you? Most of the time you probably don’t even know it is sitting right in front of you. A new idea could come from anyone you come in contact with in your life. Whether it is a complete stranger, friend, or family member – it is important to always keep your eye out and have a notepad ready to jot down the new idea.
As I had mentioned earlier, this new business idea may not be that obvious at first. It could be as simple as a conversation you are having with a friend or an innocent observation of how others are acting to situations around them. I myself have recently come across two potential opportunities just from conversations I had with close family members.
Here are the potential new business ideas that I made note of just over the past week. At this point, these examples are just ideas that have been jotted down in my notepad for further investigation. Some of these ideas may eventually become viable income streams in the future.
1. Teaching Children
I have multiple family members who have spent their entire lives as public school teachers. My mother-in-law, who is less than two years from retirement, has dedicated countless hours to educating young children. Her expertise is teaching kids how to read.
During my recent conversation with my wife’s mother, it was noted that while she was excited about retiring, she still wanted to stay active and hold down a part time job. That is when something clicked in my head from a past conversation with her about some elementary age short stories she had written to help her students learn. I immediately realized that she had spent the last 25 years writing materials that she uses every day to teach children how to read.
Not only does she have several short stories for children, she has created many development tools to make reading fun for her class. My entrepreneurial spirit is now at work trying to figure out how we could take her great material and actually turn it into a profit. While this idea and material may never turn into a business, it is still worth noting for a potential money making opportunity.
2. Sport’s Training Video
My father has been retired for several years now from his previous employer of 30+ years. While spending those years in a factory, he also took up coaching several team’s in various sports from little league on up to high school sports. His passion was and still is coaching baseball. Over the years he has become a very experienced coach.
My oldest son has just recently started playing T-Ball for his first year. He is actually getting excited about the game which is great for a 5 year old. My father of course has started working with him on his swing and proper techniques of catching and throwing.
Just last week, my father, son, and myself were out in the backyard practicing baseball. My father brought up a story about the clinics he use to put on for young children each year and how popular they were. That is when a new business idea hit me. What about creating a video training guide to teach young children (5 – 6) how to play baseball the right way? Sure it has been done many times before, but it is still a potential idea to further consider.
Final Thoughts
I don’t know if either of these ideas will ever materialize. Who knows, they may just be another crazy business idea that I jotted down that doesn’t have a lot of potential. The point is that I paid attention to what other people around me were saying. I also understood the value that my mother-in-law and father both had in their respective areas. Both of them had lots of useful information that could possibly channeled into a profitable business.
