When I come across a good deal or a way to save money, I like to pass it along to readers of PFI. Recently, I opened up an account under the My Coke Rewards program. One of my vices in life is drinking Diet Coke. While I have taken some steps to reduce my consumption to help save money, I still enjoy a nice cold Diet Coke every once in a while! A few weeks ago, I overheard someone at work discussing the My Coke Rewards program. Now this program is nothing new and I have seen the promotion printed on the packaging before – I just never paid that much attention to it. I am not sure why I didn’t bother signing up earlier? The rewards program allows you to enter special codes found on Coke products that you buy. Once you enter your codes, you earn points that can be redeemed for all sorts of prizes.

I have been collecting points for the past several weeks on various Coke products that I have purchased. I am not sure on all of the available codes and the associated point value, but the following list shows the types of points that I have redeemed so far.

  • 12-pack Coke Product – Redeems for 10 My Coke Rewards points
  • 20 oz. Coke Product – Redeems for 3 My Coke Rewards points

One of the rewards that you can earn is a printable coupon that can be used towards your next purchase of Coke products. I have been collecting points to redeem $1 off coupons on 12-packs of any Coke product. In order to redeem a $1 off coupon, you need to use 35 My Coke Rewards points. That translates into 3.5 12-packs of Coke products. While this is not a money making opportunity, it still allows you to save money if you like to drink Coke. It also allows you to earn other prizes if you are not interested in using coupons.

In addition to entering codes from Coke products to earn My Coke Rewards points, I have put together some additional items to help save money on Coke purchases.

  • Friends & Family – Do you have friends and family who drink Coke products? Chances are they don’t redeem their points because it is a waste of their time. I have family and co-workers who give me their codes to redeem as they don’t want to spend the time entering them. In the past month I have redeemed over 120 points just from codes given to me from friends and family.
  • Shop for Deals – If you couple your redeemed coupons with weekly specials, you can get great deals. I always buy my Diet Coke from CVS when the have a good deal on it. Last week for example, they had a deal where you could buy four 12-packs for $11 with $3 back in Extra Care Bucks bringing the total to four 12-packs for $8. Throw in 4 of the coupons and you knocked your total down to four 12-packs for $4!
  • Print 2 for 1 – When you redeem your points for the $1 off coupon, the site gives you a link to use to print off your coupons. Similar to other on-line coupons, you can actually print off two $1 off coupons per link. So you can actually redeem two $1 off coupons for 35 points instead of one coupon. I am still trying to decide if this is unethical or not. The fact is that the on-line coupon printing software used allows you to print two coupons, even though you redeem your points for one.

If you are interested in signing up for the My Coke Rewards program, consider opening up the account under their referral program. If you send me an email at – passivefamilyincome + @ + gmail + . + com, I can send you the information. I will automatically recieve 10 points after you redeem your first 50 points. You can also visit the My Coke Rewards website to sign-up today!

What other types of programs like My Coke Rewards are available?

Dr. Pepper has a program, but you don’t accrue points.

If you can stand Pepsi, they have a promotion to get Pepsistuff…ack!
