When I first started out with Passive Family Income, I wanted to pick up some work writing creative posts that would earn me some extra income. I used sites like – PayPerPost and SocialSpark, along with a few others to make money online from writing articles. I tried to select articles that were personal finance related from these various sites. Many of the articles ranged from 50 to 300 words and paid anywhere from $5 – $20. If I had to estimate, I probably made around $125 from these articles and wrote around 15 of them. While this was a nice form of extra income and helped me to get some writing experience under my belt, it was not passive. I received one set payment for each of these articles to post on PFI, with no other potential for income. Writing paid posts is a decent way to generate some income when starting a new blog or website. However, overtime you will realize that your time is more valuable working on your own content instead of writing these paid articles.

Sometime last fall I took the next step after reading another personal finance blog that turned me on to writing for eHow. Once I wrote my first article, I was addicted. Sites like eHow offer people a chance to post their content on a site which could make them money. Overtime, articles that you write earn you income. This income is paid from a portion of the ad revenue your articles generate. You also have the opportunity to add affiliate links to your articles to increase your opportunity to make money. The revenue that you create from eHow is truly a passive form of income.

I published several articles on eHow this past week. Several of these articles were around the topic of searching for a job. I have had a lot of interviewing experience in my career – both as an interviewee and an interviewer. I thought I would write around this topic given the rise in unemployment. Here are a few of my highlighted articles from the past week –
How to find Local Job Listings that match your skills and goals
How to Complete a Job Application and Land an Interview

Here are some great How To articles written by a few of my friends on eHow during the past week. These same eHow friends are working to build their passive income streams – just like me.

What are you doing to create passive income and secure your financial future?

Wow, I have heard of eHow, but I assumed that it was similar to Wikipedia. I didn’t know that you could actually make money on there.

There are so many opportunities for up and coming writers in this day and age. It truly is staggering. I am glad that I got into writing when I did.
