How to Jump Start a Passive Income Stream

in Income Stream

One of the most difficult parts of creating a passive income stream is putting things into motion. You know, getting that momentum going and all. An income stream with little movement or motion is at a major disadvantage and will probably not survive very long.

So how can we put a passive income stream into motion? One option is by giving it a jump start to get some momentum going. I think of this as an all out blitz attack where I pump in as many resources as I can to get things up and running. I have had success with this approach in the past (see my eHow Article Challenge below) and plan to use this tactic again to push my new income streams into motion.

eHow Article Challenge – a 42 Hour Investment

Several months ago, I launched the 100 Article eHow Challenge in an attempt to jump start my passive income earnings. My goal was to write 100 quality SEO rich articles in one month to accelerate my eHow earnings which had fallen flat. While I didn’t reach my goal of publishing 100 articles (only got to 72), my results far outreached what I could have hoped for.

As a result of my efforts, I took a $100 monthly income stream and pushed it over $200! Sure it took a lot of my time (about 42 hours), but the challenge pushed my eHow earnings to the next level. I am now reaping the rewards of this effort every month by earning over $200 in recurring income.

Niche Websites – My Next Challenge

I have several niche websites that I plan to build and grow in the coming year. Building these sites will help me reach my goal of earning $3,000 in recurring monthly income by the end of the year. As a way to get things moving, I plan to use the jump start tactic I mentioned earlier. This will require careful planning and the allocation of several resources to make this happen.

Here are a few actions that I plan to take in order to get my first niche website up and running and most importantly – churning out some income.

  • Keyword Research – This action is already underway for my first website. I am using a combination of Micro Niche Finder and the FREE Google AdWords Keyword Tool to quickly identify profitable keywords. In the past, I had outsourced this type of work, but believe that the tools I have mentioned above are much more efficient.
  • Write Pillar Articles – I am in the process of hiring a few ghost writers to create some pillar articles for my first niche site. Yes, I have decided that in order to really jump start this passive income stream, I can’t do everything myself. Therefore, I am using some of my past eHow earnings to get this new income stream off the ground by outsourcing some of this work. If things go well, I will continue to allocate past earnings back into new income streams.
  • Promotion – While my ghost writers are busy creating pillar articles for my new site, I will be busy promoting them. I plan to write several articles on Info Barrel and HubPages that will link to these pillar articles. This will not only help drive traffic to my new niche site as well as open up the possibility to generate income directly from these articles.

Final Thoughts

As months go by, I will continue to dedicate as many resources as I can to build my new income streams. Obviously things can change along the way which could redirect my efforts. Regardless of what happens, I will try and leverage as many resources as I can to help jump start my new income streams that will push me towards my goal to earn $3,000 per month.

John, I like your jump-start ideas and have been trying to jump start my own blogs and residual income. Speaking of pillar articles I have been working on some of those myself for the RB. SimplyZesty is having a challenge for just that, creating articles that set your blog to the next level.

I honestly don’t know how you wrote 72 articles. I scratch my head sometimes writing one article. Not to mention the past 2 days I have tried writing articles eHow tells me they are servicing and it won’t let me submit… :\

Its awesome that you can use your passive income earnings to further your blog’s potential. Good luck with you jump starts!

Keyword research – create website – build backlinks – rinse and repeat – its not exactly exciting but it is profitable
