The month of August seems to be flying by along with the 100 Article eHow Challenge that I am currently participating in. I have logged 3 weeks of the challenge and couldn’t be happier with my results. I am starting to cut it a little close with having enough time to complete the 100 articles, but I think I can still manage it.
Last week I was only able to publish 17 articles, which brings my totals to 62 articles written in the month of August. In order to meet my goals, I will need to write 38 more articles or about 4.75 a day. This is crunch time and I will need to focus my efforts to get as many articles as I can out in the next couple of days, while being as efficient as I can.
Week #3 Updates
Here are my results from August 1, 2009 – August 21, 2009 -
Articles Published
- Week #1 – 25
- Week #2 – 20
- Week #3 – 17
- Total – 62
Total Views & Earnings
- Article Views – 2,178
- Income Earned – $51.15
New Article Earnings
It is great to see that I topped $50 in earnings from the new articles I have posted this month. I even have two articles that have earned over $10 already this month, which just goes to show you how important it is to diversify your article topics as well as your income streams. Keyword research is important, but doesn’t guarantee any profits which is why it is important to spread your articles out and build a nice diversified list of them!
The new article earnings are actually accounting for over 44% of my earnings for the month. Each of these new articles was written doing some minor keyword research and sticking with a plan that is laid out in the follow eBook – How to Earn Passive Income on eHow.com: Maximize Your Online Earnings. Just to put some perspective on this, I have over 50 articles that I wrote prior to reading this eBook that have not earned a penny yet!
Announcing September’s Challenge
I have a long way to go to finish my 100 article eHow challenge, but it is time to think about setting my goals for September. I am announcing the 50 Hubs & 20 eHow articles challenge for the month of September. It is time to branch out a little bit from eHow, and HubPages is the answer.
For all the skeptics of using tools and sites that you don’t own to build income streams, I understand the concern. You could turn around tomorrow and have an income stream completely wiped out because a company goes under or they change their terms. I still believe that many of these tools and FREE sites can be leveraged to jump start your own niche sites, while pulling in some extra income along the way. That is my plan and we shall see how it works!
Oh yeah – I still plan to write some eHow articles next month to keep a good thing going. Writing 20 articles is totally manageable and will allow me to keep growing that income stream while not spending all my time on one specific method for generating money.
How are your eHow goals coming along? What about other forms of passive income?

Good luck with the challenge. I just found your blog. I am thinking of doing my own challenge starting next month, but with Infobarrel.

I am at a similar point with Hubpages, I am behind on my goal and I must admit the writing is becoming very tedious. Time will tell if I make it – but you seem to be doing great with your challenge!

@Web Career Girl – I am starting a HubPages challenge starting in September. Looking forward to something different than eHow.

I haven’t written for eHow in a long time for various reasons, mainly because of what I perceive to be a very small cut of the pie. However, I knocked out four articles a few days ago and they are already performing better than a majority of the articles I’d previously written for eHow. That may be due to choosing better topics or doing better keyword research. However, whatever the answer is, I’m going to jump on the eHow challenge bandwagon and see how many articles I can write in September. Good luck on meeting your August goals!

@Mace – I can understand the issue with sharing the ad revenue with another site. I think using sites like eHow to get some income coming in that can eventually get replaced overtime with your own sites is the way to go.
