eHow 100 Article Challenge – Week 1

in Passive Income

My first week of the 100 Article eHow Challenge has completed and things have been going smoothly so far. I posted plenty of articles over the past 7 days to meet my quota, which will allow me to reach 100 by the end of the month! I also saw some decent earnings already from these new articles, which is a very good sign.

I have been trying to batch as much work as I possibly can to help maximize the time I am spending. For example, I spent about 1 hour researching the keywords I planned to use in my articles before I wrote a single post. Did I search for just one keyword to get started? No, I researched my first week’s keywords and topics all at once to reduce any wasted time.

Here are my results from August 1, 2009 – August 6, 2009 -

Week #1 Totals

  • Articles Published – 25
  • Articles Views – 260
  • Income Earned – $3.80

Slow August

At first it seemed like August was going to be an awful month for eHow earnings. Income was just trickling in the first few days of the month but has picked up some recently. Hopefully my earnings will get back to what they were in July.

eHow Writers

Fellow eHow writer and friend Chasing The Bull has decided to participate in the 100 Article eHow Challenge along with me. Having another writer participating in the same challenge will give me a little added incentive to keep to my goals of 100 articles. One of my biggest motivational tools for creating passive income is by seeing others success generating money. I look forward to reading Chasing The Bulls updates and plan to show support for his campaign.

How are your eHow goals coming along? What about other forms of passive income?

I’m just starting with eHow/residual income streams, but wanted to say I liked your strategy of researching all keywords and article topics for the whole week. Means that you won’t have writer’s block mid-week if you have the topics.

I’m also just learning about SEO so we’ll see how this goes!

@Kristine – Thanks! That is what works best for me. I try and batch as money articles as I can to take advantage of the little time that I have each day.

I haven’t checked my eHow earnings the last few days because they were so low for the first few days of the month. Hopefully they have rebounded like yours.

Good luck with your challenge!

@Carrie – My earnings are really bouncing back and forth in August. Looks like there are a lot of people reporting this same thing. Another reason to diversify your income streams!

PFI,

Where the heck do you come up with your ideas to give instructions about? I am thinking I’d love to do this too, of course with a much less lofty goal!

@Journey – I start with topics that I like to write about and have experience in. Then I use a couple keyword search tools and get a whole bunch of keywords that I keep in a notebook. Then I just start going down the list writing on the topics that I get inspired on. I haven’t lost interest yet!

Wow, I love the idea of researching keywords and topics ahead of time. That would make writing the articles so much easier! I am definitely going to give this a go!

Good luck with your 100 article challenge. I have only written 30 articles total on eHow and I choose to take it slower, but it will be fun to see how much progress you can make by doing it this way.

I am currently at 30 articles. I took a break from eHow because I was on vacation. However, I am on pace to make the 100 article mark. Thanks for the motivation to keep writing! One thing that I have found to help me make more money so far is Micro Niche Finder. This tool is amazing! I wish I could tell every eHower about it! I have wrote 12 articles with it so far and all 12 have earned something! I urge you to check it out. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to email me.

@Jeremy – Yeah, I can’t even think of keeping up with your schedule. You have given me a lot of inspiration.

I like your approach, especially all of the ground work that you do to brainstorm article topics. It looks like you’re well on your way to your goal.

@CB – Thanks! I think I can hit that goal but my active income job has been crazy lately and my time is very thin.

Yep same thing here with eHow earnings in August…… I think it might have something to do with the summer months, and people going outside more

I did decide to offer a challenge of my own for eHow writers, with a couple of small prizes.. I hope you do not mind if I post the link http://www.easykindamoney.com/2009/08/16/the-ehow-challenge/

Thanks and GET WRITING!!!!!!!!!!

Doing all the keyword research for the whole week ahead of time is very wise. I think I waste a considerable amount of time researching in inefficient ways.
