It is official, I have eclipsed the triple digit earnings amount this month on eHow! While I still have big plans for building my eHow passive income stream, it is nice to hit this milestone in just under 11 months of writing. I could stop contributing any time or effort to this income stream and it would still continue to earn over $100 every month – which is a great feeling to have.

There are several lessons I have learned in the past few months that have helped me get to the $100 per month milestone. Initially, I started writing posts on eHow with little direction or understanding of how to earn decent income using this free passive income tool. I am currently earning $.82 each month per article that I have published. While this amount per article is not bad, it could be a lot better. Otherwise, your chances of earning decent income are slim. I wouldn’t recommend paying for any SEO services if you are looking to use it only for eHow. Instead, try to take advantage of several free SEO tools available on the web like Google’s free keyword tool.
2. Write Short Focused Content – One of the most important lessons I have learned in the past several months is to write short, to the point articles on eHow. It is recommended that you keep each step within your article limited to 3 or 4 sentences. I try and follow this rule whenever possible to make for easier reading. When readers see an article with several sentences jumbled together, they tend to lose focus and move on from your article. The key is to keep them reading so they can stay on your page longer and hopefully select some advertisements or affiliate links from your content.
3. Focus on Your Best Earning Articles – If your goal is to earn a decent income from eHow, then this tip is extremely helpful to your success. After you have become established as an eHow writer and built a decent article library, take a look at what articles are your top earners. Chances are that these articles will be at the top of the list most months. In order to maximize your time, focus on keywords and content from these topics to publish your next round of articles. I personally would rather spend an hour writing 1 high level article that could pay me $10 each month then 3 or 4 articles in the same time that may only earn pennies. I believe that too many eHow writers focus on the number of articles they post each month (I use to do this myself) instead of focusing on the types of posts that earn the biggest payout.
